Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far. Still barely Fall here in AZ but I’ve been layering anyway. This JCrew military jacket has been one of my staples. I’m especially loving the ability to cinch the waist.

Happy Friday!

Earlier this week, we witnessed something pretty cool here in the US. Whether you’re happy with the results or not, you probably did something to contribute to them. And being able to do that is pretty cool if you ask me. So I donned my best red, white and blue - hold the flag.

A note on peplum: definitely don’t give up on this trend if you’ve tried on a top that was really unfortunate. Each is cut a little bit differently, odds are, there’s one out there for you.

Happy Friday everyone!

You may have noticed a trend in today’s outfit - almost everything is old. I’ve been trying to do a better job of shopping my own closet instead of the ever-tempting shopping. But as a creature of habit, it’s not always easy to look at a piece I always wear a certain way and think about it differently (because it just looks SO good as that combo!) I typically wear this skirt belted with a shirt tucked in so I untucked the shirt and added my boyfriend blazer and booties. They’re such little changes, but helped me break this skirt out of its rut.

Hey, maybe it’ll inspire you to take a look at that sweater you only wear with a certain cami (etc) and pair it with something else :)

This dress is one of my favorites but in order to make it more versatile for day, I dressed it down with a cargo jacket. With the sash from the dress tied around the jacket to accentuate my waist and some of my favorite jewels, it was time for work!

But what about hair?! Thanks for asking. Like everyone else, the top knot has been my go-to hair style recently. Spending 5 minutes for effortless glam? Oh yes, I think I will. This blog posted a great sock bun tutorial, even a how-to for the sock donut. One tip, if I may: keep rolling even after it seems like you’re done.

Well hello again. It’s certainly been a while. We’ve officially moved across the country and settled in to what I affectionately call, the Wild West. Although we’re out of the triple digit temperatures, it’s still not “Fall” as I’m used to in Philly. So I’m improvising a bit. Fall boots with my favorite optical illusion skirt and light top.

Navy is probably one of my favorite colors. It’s consistently sophisticated and really looks good on everyone. With all the neon colors out right now, navy is really the perfect choice to keep them grounded. Then all you need is matching lips and some arm candy :)

Today’s so gorgeous out that I’m jumping for joy. I kid, I kid…although it really is great out. This is one of my go-to outfits for dinners out. Dressy enough to work almost anywhere and yet casual enough that it’s tough to feel too over dressed. The set of bangles also make bracelet layering a breeze.

I saw this bag a few weeks ago and really just fell in love with it on contact. But I wanted to wear something with it that balanced its vintage feel without competing. The almost nude color of these chinos make them incredibly versatile and, like all chinos, they’re oh so comfy. Added some platform sandals to spice things up and of course, one of my favorites for this time of year, a lace top.

As I mentioned before, I recently got engaged. Well, we’re also moving across the country in June. To Phoenix, more specifically. So even though I took some time off of work to get as much as I can taken care of before then, I still have a to-do list long enough to rival Santa’s nice/naughty list between wedding planning and a cross-country move. (Okay I know you’re probably hearing the world’s smallest violin in your ear right now. Worry not - my “sob story” ends there. :) And there are just some days where I need to wear something that’s the equivalent of comfort food. Comfort food without the guilt and unhappy tummy of course.

Not only is this sweater like wearing a hug, but the loose knit is great for Spring because it can be as warm or cooling as you want. Top the blush color off with some accessories in the same color family, and you’ll have one of my favorite outfits.

This picture has taken way longer to put up than I wanted. Driving a long distance hungover isn’t something I’d wish upon my enemies. Still recovering.

But the bachelorette party was awesome. Instead of going out to dinner, we decided to go to a cooking class at Sur La Table instead. If you haven’t heard of it and love food as much as I do, you should probably go there. Like..now. We did a tapas style menu and it was just phenomenal. Drinking (it’s BYOB), eating and hanging out in a kitchen, what would be better?

Now obviously these shoes wouldn’t be great for standing and cooking, but they were great for drinking and dancing later. Overall, another successful RTR experience. Although, if you’re going to get this romper, do yourself a solid and get some double stick tape also. It made my night much more worry free :)

After that unseasonably warm weather we had for a few weeks, I was totally ready to put away all my sweaters to exclusively wear skirts and dresses. Well, obviously that didn’t last, so on to transitional dressing. This outfit’s my rebuttal to mother nature. I will still wear my floral summer skirts…but with a bright sweater. Grounding this bright look with navy Sperry’s (I’m actually more of a fan of the simplistic men’s styles) and you could even add a few gold necklaces at varying lengths to dress it up a little.

Speaking of needing seasonal dressing, I’m heading up to Boston for a bachelorette party. (Okay that transition was a stretch, just stay with me.) I’m sure it’ll be quite the weekend of great food, too much coffee and maybe even some dancing. And not only do I get to see some of my friends I haven’t in ages, but I rented this killer Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent romper for Saturday night. I can barely contain my excitement. No, but really. Expect to see some instagramed pictures, maybe even a selfie or two if I can’t convince anyone to be my photog. Turns out Madewell’s Denim Roadtrip is hitting Harvard Square this weekend too. It’s fate.

This Sunday I went to a bridal shower in Massachusetts. And when I think Mass, I think one thing: preppy.

Only one thing to do for prep in a pinch: rent.

So off to Rent the Runway I went to find Kate Spade’s perfect solution to my need for prep. This dress reminded me a lot of Breakfast at Tiffany’s so I spent a portion of my 5+ hour car trip doing the best attempt at an Audrey-esque updo. Actually found a tutorial which really made it look much easier than it was, but hey, that could’ve had something to do with the fact that I was in a car. Paired the wonderfully striped dress with gray heels to balance.

I’m sure you’ve been wondering how to possibly fill the gap for novelty pants that jeggings and skinny cargos have left from past seasons. Well worry not, colorful denim is here.

Okay but seriously. After having a pretty gorgeous week in Philly, this weekend was pretty gloomy, which stinks. In my opinion, the only way to combat crappy weather is with happy clothes. How could anyone NOT be happy while wearing bright red/orange pants?! (Not trying to be exact on the color, they just really look different depending upon the light.) Bright pants and bright scarf are balanced by a plain white tee, albiet it the softest one you’ve ever touched, and black flats. Not just any black flats though, this happy outfit deserves no less than polka dot flats. Because, how could I not.

Alright, well hope you’re cuddled up on a couch with some glorious caffeinated beverage if the weather where you are is anything like here. Also - headed to a bridal shower today (not mine) and rented a phenomenal Kate Spade dress. Tune in tomorrow for more deets.

Oh hey. Remember me? It’s been a while, huh? It’s been an eventful few weeks. My boyfriend asked me to marry him. Phew, feels weird to write. But yea, I said yes, we went out to a great dinner, then I made soooo many phone calls.

A few days later, it was one of my favorite days of the year. My birthday!! I’m pretty sure I’m going to take my Mom’s lead and celebrate my “birthday month” forever. I had a great party and was lucky enough to have all my favorites there to celebrate.

Okay back to clothes. One thing that’s inherent with this whole engagement thing is that there are a lot of events. I like an outfit like this one, where it’s dressy but understated. It’d be easy to go from work to dinner with family wearing this.

First off, I’m really been slacking with my blogging. It’s been a few of those weeks.

More importantly, I bought this green dress a few years ago because I really can’t resist a 50s-inspired dress. I mean, I don’t wear it with my pearls while I vacuum, but the fit is super flattering on mostly anyone and it’s a great go-to piece. With shirtdresses and 50s-inspired looks coming back with a vengeance this season, seemed like the perfect time to bring it out in a different way.

Also love this blazer and the fun feminine accent of the puffy sleeve. I added the belt to make sure the great defined waist of the dress wasn’t lost with the jacket. The shoes really need no introduction, but these were a Christmas gift. I would wear them to sleep if that weren’t weird.

This post is going to be a quick one. It’s restaurant week in Philly and I’m headed to one of the awesome new restaurants in my neighborhood.

This outfit is all about proportions. I love fuller skirts. They’re so girly, I have to resist the urge to spin around like I’m in the opening (or closing) sequence of insert-your-favorite-chick flick-here. Only bad news is that they can get frumpy pretty quickly. I balanced this awesome brown one with a fitted tank, belt to accent my waist and the yellow sweater for a pop of color.

It’s been a while. That first week back from vacation is always fun enough to counteract going on vacation and then some. Why is that? Anyway, back to a (more) normal routine. Which, most importantly, involves actually writing a blog post. Yay!

You may or may not have been able to tell from the pictures, but I’m not the tallest of ladies. Which is really fine, except when trying to resist the urge to climb up on the kitchen counter like a 5-year-old to get something that I’ve foolishly stored on the top shelf of the cabinet. But I digress.

Sometimes, being tall can be fun. And I’m not just talking about donning my highest heels. I mean looking tall. The key: the wide leg pant WITH the heels. Makes for forever-long legs. With my black pants, I’m wearing a Rebecca Tank and a multi-strand necklace wrapped around my wrist to round out my Tall Look.

So most of you don’t need me to tell you this, but today was cold. Like, really cold. In honor of that, I’m posting a my favorite go-to outfit when it’s freezing. I snagged the jacket this season at Club Monaco on one of those delicious days when they do 30% off sale. The boots are my alternative to Uggs. Same idea without the dinosaur feet, well, mostly anyway.
